Children and Family Corner

Español

In partnership with the Marin County Free Library, we introduced in August, 2019, our Children and Family Corner.

At both the Wash Tub in Corte Madera and Speed-Dee Wash in San Anselmo, you will find a selection of books for children. Our partners at the library will be replenishing these every month with new books. It's OK to take a book home, but please bring them back next time for other families, just like you would at the library. We will also be adding educational toys for children to use while at our stores (please leave these at the Laundromat). Watch the bulletin board provided by the library for information on scheduled events both at local libraries and at our Laundromats. These will include children's story time and reading hours at the Laundromats. At the Wash Tub in Corte Madera, this includes a seating and reading area specially for children.

Children spend many hours every month waiting for their parents. This is an opportunity for parents to encourage their children to spend the time reading and for parents to spend time reading to their children.

Laundry Made Easier® at our self service stores refers to a range of features and designs in our stores to make doing laundry easier. This includes our credit card systems which are easier to use than inserting a lot of coins, seating areas separated from the washers and dryers, power outlets in seating areas for working productively while waiting, high extract speed Dexter washers to reduce dry time and help you spend less time at a Laundromat, and increased folding space.

It also includes helping parents turn laundry time into quality time with their children. Watching and entertaining children in a Laundromat while actually doing laundry can be challenging. We are excited and happy to be the first Laundromat operator in Marin County to provide a solution.

Please look back here in the future for press releases and press coverage about this relationship with the Marin County Free Library.

Updates: October, 2019

Volunteers from the Marin County Free Library will soon begin providing scheduled storytime reading hours. Please look for postings at the stores with schedules.

The Bay Area Discovery Museum has joined with us and the Marin County Free Library. They will be providing specially developed early education learning kits designed to guide parents in special learning activities they can do with their children. Parents can feel free to keep these. They will be replenished for other families. These will be available at the stores in both English and Spanish. But, they are available in 10 other languages too. If you would like to receive one in another language, please use our contact form to let us know. We will place them on the book shelves in those languages also.
